A lot of people are using their Apps domains as their primary account on Android. A few months ago Google started offering Apps domain admins an early access to migrate domains to the new Apps which is more heavily integrated to treat Apps domain accounts like regular Google Account so they work with all Google services. For me personally I could do basic stuff like gmail/calendar/talk/contacts with my non-migrated Apps domain. But after migrating there doesn't seem to be any difference on Android between Apps and gmail accounts (no longer need an @gmail.com account for uploading maps, syncing picasa albums, purchasing apps in the market). If you aren't the domain admin ask them to look at migrating the domain (when I did mine it offered per user migration, so you could even volunteer to be the guinea pig for migration.
