Default Hi, my name is Jim and I have a Flashing Addiction

Hi all .....this rooting thing all started innocently enough..was just going to get the hotspot fix and that was it....now I'm an addict....even when everything is going good in my relationship with my evo I'm always looking around for something better looking, faster, more attrabutes...I feel cheap and unfaithful....my god what am I to do...are there meetings, are there pills that will help....maybe I should start R.A. ( rooters anonymous ) at least then there would be others like me to talk to.......who will join

I'm in pseudo recovery. I was a flashaholic with my Hero. Just got the EVO, so I'm being a good boy so far.

yeah i thought that i had an evo addiction til i rooted. now i really have it bad now. i literally cannot put the phone down. i use my phone so much now that i'm constantly charging my phone. it is not that i do not have a bad battery life. its just that i'm using it too much. i may get a bigger battery but that will make my beautiful evo ugly. i hate my addiction (not really). help!!!!!!!

No.

You know, the first step to recovery is admitting you have an addiction. So congrats to my many fellow addicts. . .
I'm not sure about turning my addiction over to the "EVO GODS" . . . I'm not sure that step will work as intended!

Same here. Always told to "Put the phone down!"......tried for a month to get her to upgrade to an Evo but she decided on the Epic.....guess in a couple weeks when she wants hers rooted I will have to learn on that one.

I worked for the first time in a week today. First day back with the evo. Got yelled at by the boss. Then I had to spend about 20 minutes showing him features and such. Poor guy has a BB......I think the addiction may have spread to a potential convert....

I must introduce the term ENABLING . We have several typical examples of the power of addiction. Enabling your wives to become an addict... just not right. Even worse is enabling your boss to engage in the addiction. You sir have gone too far. Please save yourselves and get to a meeting tonight. You've all heard the saying "I was hooked after the first Rom". Don't let yourselves have that same fate. There is hope if you act quickly.

When you guys saying "rooting" addiction do you really mean 'flashing'?
If yes, then count me in I'm definitely a flashoholic!

However, this latest version of MIUI has made me it's bitch and have since seized the numerous daily flashes. It still has its quirks but man overall it kicks some ass!

+1. Mee too. Even the PC games have eased up quite a bit. Ok, I'll be honest, they have stopped altogether.

My entire evening after the heathens are put to bed consists of: Beer, Android Forums, and rocking back and forth until the Nandroid backup has completed.

I rooted my Hero just three months in. I was flashing every update of cm till I got aosp. I was happy. Then my speaker broke on my beloved Hero. I was at my anniversary date so I got the EVO. This thing is so fast coming from a Hero, who needs to do anything to it.
One day later, I'm rooted........And so it continues.

Its a piece of cake.....when you finally root your Evo though, your Hero is going to feel neglected

I sold me Hero off after I rooted my Evo because it started collecting dust.

Yep, same boat here. We recently upgraded our family plan to 3 EVO 4Gs, (18 yr old daughter, wife, and I) and the 18 yr old asked me about jailbreaking. "It's called rooting, jailbreaking is for iphones." I have one down and 2 to go. I ask them if they want me to flash theirs yet, and I get this wild look of fear in their eyes. They grip their Evos to their bosoms like I was asking to take away very soul. Yet, it is only a matter of time, because as they complain about their battery life, asking where the charger is, I laugh and tell them where my battery is at. They look at me with scorn in their eyes.
I do highly recommend Azreal X as a ROM to try. I'm running 3.1, but they just released 4.0 (ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr!) yesterday. Yeah, that's right, I'm upset, because I absolutely ADORE my phone's performance on 3.1. They can't make this any better, can they? I see the new features, sigh heavily, and click on the download link.

Oh, BTW, has anyone named theirs yet? Just curious.

I too am constantly getting in trouble with my fiancee.....At times she feels like she's competing with my Evo for time! Terrible huh lol.

I should get her an android phone....There's no price for peace of mind in the household.

That worked out quite well for me. I bought my wife an Evo. She won't let me touch it, though, lol.

I started letting her play with Evo here and there, she likes to play angry birds and fruit ninja, but once she gets on it, it's hard to get it back!

Welcome andygu3! I've rooted, but am still on stock rom for now....This is an awesome phone. You won't regret this decision.

Lots to read here....start with this: Rooting for Dummies.

Hahaha, same here. All my gaming activity has stopped and I am constantly on these forums reading up on different ROM's and customizations. Charging my phone twice a day because I can't put it down... the woman just sighs at me when I get caught playing with it and not listening to her
