So i was waching some of the live coverage and i seen the new online market wich made me think of some questions. I seen that it gives you the option on device installs i read that for each new phone you get you have to rebuy the app is this true even if it is registered to the same google account. Also if i buy a app then uninstall will i have to repurchase. One more question that might not have a awnser yet, what if i put the market on a tablet that doesnt have it will it still show on the device list one the android market. Sorry for all the dumb questions.
I'm in and it's showing my installed apps. (The invalid request is rolling back, if you see this, just re-try in a little bit.)
edit1 - I've just sent a Chrome-to-phone of an app I kept forgetting to d/l...
edit2 - OK, it's a little buggy -
Security certificate error on my phone - showed details - google.com doesn't match android.com - I was ok with that, so I proceeded.
Hit the Install button on the app page I sent over - it detected that I wasn't signed in, gave me a dialog to complete that - so far, so good
Got a dialog saying there was no device associated with my account - went back to the market on the desktop -> market account -> settings -> "Don't see your device?"
They're telling me that either my device isn't in there yet, or it's not my primary account, or I've not accessed the Market from my device recently.
Uh - ok. So, using Market app, just downloaded (then erased) Newegg Mobile.
Actually - reading their help page - they say to access the Market with the app, then re-try the web...
No soap so far on that download...
edit3 - Cleared cache - still nada. Even tried turning on Talk. Will just try again later. I _know_ I associated a phone with my Google account somewhere... Chrome-to-phone? Maps? Market? It's been too long...

I can sign in. I've tried three separate apps to install. None of them have worked. It has also shown that I have some apps installed, that I do NOT have installed (but did at some point in the past).
I am rooted (SR 3.5). I also note that ChromeToPhone takes forever to push to my phone, that might have something to do with it. I could never figure out why.
It's taking longer than usual, and that's not saying much for Chrome-to-phone.
I suspect this is a case of everyone banging their servers right about now - just guessing tho.
These are Google's servers though. They're not known for wimpy servers. I'm running a custom ROM so it's entirely possible it's on my end. I'm reserving judgement for the moment.
No doubt - they're not wimpy. That said - we've all seen times when the Market just goes dark for a while.
Earlier today, seems everyone was reporting the login problem - I'm hoping this is all just some update glitch on their side - I'm rooted, but running a custom rom...
My Account -> Settings says there's no devices associated with my account. That's on the desktop, reflecting their db view of me - so it's not phone related in my case.
The help pointer from there says:
Quote:
There are two possible reasons why an Android device might be missing from your list of devices on the Android Market website:
You're not logged in with the primary Google account associated with your device.OR
You haven't accessed Android Market from your device recently.
To see the accounts associated with your device, click ‘Settings’ > ‘Accounts & Sync’.
K... it's correct.

On the website when I click to view My Market Account it only shows 20 apps there...but I have MANY more on my phone (that I downloaded through the market). When browsing apps there are some that I already have that it has an "Install" button instead of "Installed"
I was able to install some games from the web market.
And are you rooted?
I noticed in my settings in the Marketplace, my phone is listed, and says it was registered and last used on Dec 16, 2010, which is the last time I was installing some new ROMs. This is obviously wrong since I use and sync it constantly every day. So I'm thinking my custom ROM is causing my phone to not communicate properly with the Marketplace.
I will have to:
1. Do nothing and install my old way.
2. Remove my custom ROM and try it. (probably not worth it).
3. Find a new ROM that will work with the new marketplace.
I'll probably go with #1 since this feature isn't that necessary for me. I'm just bummed that this was working with Appbrain for me, but Google broke that functionality.

If a download you requested from the Android Market website never started on your device, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
Confirm that there is connectivity on your device (contact your mobile service provider if you aren't connected)
If downloading a paid application, confirm that your credit card information is up to date by logging in your Google Checkout account
Make sure that your phone is logged into Google Talk by following these steps:
Go to your phone’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
If you’re already logged into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
Launch Talk again to sign in
Make sure that your phone has enough available space to install the app. If necessary, try uninstalling some existing applications or moving them to your SD card.
Try requesting the download again using Android Market from your device.
I'm never signed in to Talk. OK, signed in to that (again today), now doing a Sync All.
My phone's rooted - wife's is not - hers is working. My last rom install was 8/3 (hey - it works, I've been happy) but the market is showing my last install at 8/10. I cleared cache and data on the Market, downloaded an app, sync'd all Google and that's about it for now.
Next step will be to delete my Gmail account, and add it when the Market complains... meanwhile, I'm going to wait maybe a half day or day from here before doing that.

Not working on my phone which is rooted. Does work on my Nook which is also rooted. It doesn't look like it's talked to my phone since 1/17. I wonder if I can wipe the phone's account from the Market and re-sync. I have browsed the market from my phone today so the market still works from my phone. Very confusing. I think it has something to do with the ROM I'm running.

So i see this is working on nooks. Is your nook listed under your devices? I was thanking about buying a coby kyros MID7015 untill i can afford a better tablet, wonder if this would work if the market and Gtalk was added, wich i belive it can be.
Yeah I successfully installed one...to a phone that has been deactivated (and has a bad ESN to boot) since October 5th. Something isn't adding up here. I have two phones listed as devices on there, neither of which is the phone that I actually have setting in front of me.

Yep. When I log in, I can see the Nook and my phone. Both are rooted. The Nook is running stock rooted and the phone is running a custom rom. That's the only real difference between the two. When I go to install an app, it simply asks me which device to install it to. It says it hasn't talked to my phone since 1/17 though. I have logged into the market on my phone, bought (free) stuff and rebooted my phone. None of it works. Market on my phone has no issues, but I can't push to it from the web. I'm guessing it has to do with my ROM.
I also had the initial invalid request message at the very outset. Tried it about 1/2 hour later and I was able to login. Picked some silly Amex app just to see if it worked and it did. Turned on the phone 2 seconds later and there it was, installing the app. Very cool website, something we really needed. I'm rooted on CM7 #23 Invisiblek's beta kernel, if anyone cares.
^Same here - and I'm too work-busy to backup/reset/restore at the moment.
Although you run a custom rom - I had a leaked Froyo then patched it (all rooted). There was some HTC phone-home stuff I didn't like, so I deleted it. So - our roms may be similar in that we're missing some file like that. My Market list is stale since 8/10 - and that would've been about the time I deleted those files.
It's likely I have backups of everything. If I find the missing culprit, I'll shoot you a PM so you can check your /system for it.
The ROM I'm using now is buggy. I'm gonna update it to the new version. Been planning to do it anyway, but I've just been too lazy. It's bitterly cold out and everyone but us is closed for the weather. I may update the ROM today and see if that's the problem. Might save other people some issues.
Running a rooted DInc with stock ROM (bloatware removed) and an updated kernel, I was able to login and install an app with no problem. The market does still show my old phone though, so I set that one to 'hide in menus' so I wouldn't see it.

Mine shows 2 also, the one I have now and a previous one I no longer have. As long as I pick the right phone the app installs just fine
Why is there a price difference between Appbrain and Market? There was a $2 price difference on one book.
Also, does Market have a list where you can store what you are interested in until you buy or install it?
Thanks

My uneducated guess is that the market is looking under rom version and seeing all sorts of things it doesn't recognize. Mine's Liberty v 1.5. I'd like to see us get that under control and fix it to see if it works. I forget what it's supposed to say.
Having the same issue. Rooted DX, running stock with bloatware removed, though I have tried a custom ROM in the past. I'm wondering if it is worth the trouble of SBFing back to stock, upgrading, seeing if android market push works, and then methodically removing bloatware and customizing to see if the market still works. Meanwhile, chrome to PC works but has a lag as mentioned above.
Alright, you guys won't like this, but I did a data erase and restore and it fixed the issue....on stock. I'll root now, then try another download, then customize some more, then try another download and report back. Bah humbug but at least it's working.

I somehow partly fixed it. The Market now says that my phone checked in with it today. Pushing apps does not work though. Oh well. I didn't have this functionality before and never missed it. And it does work on the Nook so it's kind of a wash I guess.
Okay, I'm rooted, removed bloatware and customized to my liking. Market is pushing apps OTA. It was a hassle, but I'm good to go. Was it worth it? Probably not but I hate the idea of functionality not working as it should for my DX.
Tried to install an app and it said that 'this item is not available on your carrier' when I tried to select my phone in the app install pop-up screen. The very same app installed fine the usual way. Rooted with custom rom. Maybe that's why it doesn't work with my 'carrier'
Hmm... tried another app and this one worked fine. I guess there are still some teething problems

Mine shows only about 1/4 of my apps (market on phone now isn't showing everything either!). My phone is showing the right info in settings etc., it's just not pulling everything. (stock Moto Droid)
When I access the site through Chrome I get the "this is not the page you want" message and have to click to go there anyway. Big red line through https. FF just takes me there. You'd almost think Google would let me in! Hello!
So far I'm not impressed, and I haven't even tried to install anything yet!

I have been using the site on my Cr-48 laptop (Chrome OS, no other browser on it) without any problems
Does not work if your phone is registered to your ISP's Google Apps email (yourname@domain.com). If I register my phone to my gmail email account, web market will work. But will I lose all paid apps if I do this.
Google must of changed something because now I can see my device without the solution but it still wont download apps, you just get a message saying "you have not opened the android market recently on this device. Please open it and try again" when you select your device and the install button is grey out on the pop up menu. I used the market today, before and after trying it, so god know what they are talking about. Maybe google shouldn't let their programmers leave the building until they get it sorted.
I get the same error (you have not opened the android market recently on this device. Please open it and try again). It recognizes what apps I've already installed, but won't let me download anything from the web due to this error. I opened market on my phone and downloaded a random app, but this didn't help. I still get the same error from the webstore.
