Point of rooting/jailbreaking etc...
I understand the concept of jailbreaking on the iphone and stuff because apple sucks and there are a ton of benefits to jailbreaking (cracked apps, customized apps, Voip over 3g, Changing companies,
But what exactly is the point of Rooting an android phone what benefits do you get from it? Why would anyone want to do it?

Rooting an Android phone lets you flash custom roms to it, delete pre-installed apps you couldn't delete the regular way, and it lets you tether your phone with a computer.

You can store apps on your computer anyway.
By rom I mean like custom builds of Android.

Straightforward.
I assume no responsibility if you brick your device, by the way. Hope you got a little knowledge of it.

Simple google search will get you all you need for the roms.
Youtube has the rooting video I'm sure.
I don't have a DROID so I don't have any roms or anything, but I know 2.1 has been flashed to it.

i play cod6 thru my droid, works pretty good most of the time.. usually 3 green bars, sometimes 2.
moderate NAT though, cant get it to open. so some drops when in lobbies.
i rooted my friends droid so he could so the same with ps3.. but ps3 wont see it.. sorta weird but either a firmware or hardware issue i would guess
