Fuel cells = no
Nuclear = definitely no (and by the way a reactor can physically not explode like a nuclear bomb)
Nanocell batteries = the next MAJOR step forward. The technology already exists. A nanocell battery the size of current cell phone batteries could power our current phones for over a month without charging and continuous use. It is completely safe with no hazardous waste. The only problem is it is still very expensive to produce for consumer use. I personally think we will start seeing them in phones by 2015-2017.
BTW... I used to be a nuclear chemist and have extensive knowledge of nuclear reactors, their construction, and what it takes for them to work.
