Remote Control Home FTP

Heya, I recently got the Nexus One and happily set up Transdroid to control torrents going to my server. However I was wondering whether it is possible to control my home PC using the N1 so that I can choose which folders to download to my home PC from said server.

I've had a look at VNC/Gmote but they either don't do what I need or are completely useless when running on a 3G network. I download from a fixed folder via FTP if that would make any difference.
