Default Change Send As Address on Microsoft ActiveSync

I set up my gmail email on my new HTC Sensation using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.

I would like to change my "Send As" address from my phone (it is already changed on my online gmail). There are instructions for doing this for an iPhone using ActiveSync (Setting up Google Sync with your iOS device : Google Sync - Google Mobile Help), but these don't seem to work.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks.

Any reason you're using ActiveSync? Gmail natively sync and pushes.

While the GMail app natively syncs and pushes, the HTC Sense mail client does not. If possible, I'd like to use the HTC mail client, and so I'm using ActiveSync to get push email.
