Sorry guys, but as of right now, alot of these builds are broken. The Haykuro images for the Google cupcake dont allow Market downloads, so i restored my phone back to JF'd RC33. The HTC build of cupcake is not the standard edition we will be getting, so i dont want to show that one due to confusion i might cause. Any other ideas? What we should do is load the latest cupcake build into the SDK and that way everybody can play with it, without screwing anything up. But how can we accomplish this? Anyone?

the tmobile g1 will never get a "cupcake" update prolly wont ever get a real video recorder, or anything else that makes the iphone "the best phone to ever have"... g1 apps suck very badly!, tmobile 3g network is the smallest 3g network out there(cricket's is even better) and theses tmobile reps that have been tellin us about an "cupcake" update prolly work at ACS gettin paid by the phone call! bottom line... SELL YOUR G1 ASAP!!

Because of course the current iPhone has video recording? There was me thinking it was only a feature when the iPhone was Jailbroken?

I think most people will agree, the iphone is great, but it really isn't perfect, or necessarily "the best phone to ever have".

Shame on you for such fanboyism!

Not that I agree with someone's who's grammar is that bad, but the poster didn't mention the iPhone, I read it twice.

I for one expect we will get continual updates on the G1 for a long time to come. At some point we "may" be told your hardware can no longer support the latest and greatest, but I think that is a ways off. Google is not in the hardware game, and at this time their goal is to support their largest installed userbase which is G1 users.

Sorry my bad. I am not sure they were saying you should get an iPhone, I love my G1 and I think iPhones are great too, not for me, but great.

I did talk to CC today and smirked heavily when the rep told me she was so excited to get the Sidekick LX over the G1. I asked why, and she had nothing. I am happy to have left the Sidekick platform but I don't rule out one day getting another one.

Right time, right place, every gadget has its user base.

I don't think we have Sidekicks here in London (or maybe they are just not popular)...

So I really don't know whats so great....or so bad about them....

iPhones are good...but the way people glorify them...makes me hate iPhones...

I think I just love the underdog. If the iPhone wasn't so popular i'd probably get one in a flash, but its all the stuck up people who use them which annoys me. (I'm not saying everyone who uses an iPhone is stuck up).

Plus, I love the open source abilities of the Andriod OS. I want to make some home automation so Andriod would be great for that, whereas the iPhone is just crap in that repsect.

I don't know...
I remember thinking Apple were taking the mick when they first brought out the iPhone....I thought it was stupid....and that nobody would catch onto it...

That was when I realised just how big a fan-base Apple had....and how many people were willing to jump ship for the phone...

That put me off the iPhone even more....lol...

What the iPhone realy has got going for it though is the App store (and the fan base like you said). Even with Apple's strict monitoring and rules for developers, the App store is still great.

I hope the Android marketplace gets as popular. Just out of interest though, is the android marketplace any good? How many apps does it have now?

As far as I can tell....LOADS....

In terms of useful ones....about 100 - 200 maybe...? (someone feel free to correct me on this..)

I'm not an app freak so I don't use the marketplace much unless I see something I like...I haven't even bought a single paid app yet...

I haven't had a chance to test it yet but I just finished another build of cupcake so when I get a chance tomorrow I will flash my phone and see what works... As of 4/15 my last build everything worked that did not need to save to the SD card... so if this build is even half decent I'll edit this and post a link for people to download and test for them selves... As for the sapphire builds the G build everything except the market works, on the H build it has some minor glitches with audio and a couple of apps but the market works...

***EDIT***
Well SD card is still borked in the build so it's about the same as it was last week..... Don't think it's worth posting but if you really want it email/PM me and I'll link it for you....

I'd agree with you, loads of apps, many useful ones, and several you're never going to see on the iPhone.

Thanks for the reply's regarding the Market place. But I fear this thread is going off topic (seems to occur a lot with me) so I might take any Market place questions elsewhere. Haha. But I am intrigued as to those apps you wouldn't see on an iPhone.

Not really any point anymore, the Haykuro builds and some of the others have everything in them and are fully functional. In a week or two you'll probably have it for yourself to test out

Are the Haykruo builds the next best thing to JF's builds?
