What do you guys think of this tablet? Thinking of buying it, but not completely sold on it since there isn't much info out about it at the moment. Any opinions?
I like this tablet a lot. There's the multi touch feature, mini HDMI output, SD slot on the outside instead of being buried in the tablet. The price at Wallys is great. Full registeration means Adobe flash and full marketplace. Its a steal!.

Those were my thoughts exactly, and I was stuck between this one and the Archos 7o internet tablet. After comparing them side by side, they're more or less the same thing with different names. Same processor, memory, almost everything! And the google certification thingy is a definite plus for this tablet. I think I've decided to try out this tablet and save the $40 bucks that I would've spent on that Archos. =)

Do not buy this tablet it completely stopped functioning after one week of owning the tablet. I did not modify it in any way so i do not understand why but i do know its going to take about a month or more for them to fix it so i am just going to return it to wal-mart if they will still let me....

Experience with Filemate Identity
I have had my Filemate Identity Tablet for several days now. I think that it is a very good tablet overall. And a fine tablet considering the price. There are reviews that suggest problems with the GPS. While it won't get a GPS fix as fast as my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, It does get a fix and it will work with Google Maps. And it is fast! I scored 1800+ on Quadrant. It is made well and therefore somewhat heavy. I like the three physical buttons on the bottom but they don't light up and the printing is very light.
UPDATE: I looked back on my notes and the correct Quadrant score was 1439. Still real good for a single core device

Reason: correction to Quadrant score
I was also looking at getting this tablet, it just seems like it doesn't get any better for the price. Unless you want to try a chinese knock off...
Any other reviews/responses would be greatly appreciated.

Filemate Identity GPS experience.
I tried out the Filemate Identity to navigate between Central Florida and Northeast Alabama recently using Google maps. It worked great! I used a MiFi internet connection to load the maps and route at the start and then turned the MiFi off. Once the route is loaded in memory, you don't need an Internet connection any more for navigation. I even put the Tab to sleep for about 40 miles. When I woke the Tab up, it took 30-45 seconds to get a fix again and then the navigation resumed. Fantastic!!

My FileMate Identity tablet can't connect to the Android Marketplace and I can't setup my Gmail. What should I do?
We have seen that some tablets are having trouble connecting to the Google servers. The steps below should resolve the issue.
Please email the Wintec Customer Support Team to obtain the Android application package file (*.apk) needed to go with these instructions. { Save it to your desktop for ease }
You may refer to the following pdf file (Adobe Acrobat) or the docx file (MS Word) from the Enspert Manual for a visual representation of certain steps, however we recommend following the procedure detailed below.
You'll need a SD card. So take a moment to find one.
Insert the SD card into your computer, { Make a note of which drive letter it is }
Make sure that you are viewing the window that shows which drive letter the SD card is in. { I.E. Using Windows, Click on Start > My Computers, or Computer, then you should see all the drives.
Click on the GenerateMACAddress.apk file and drag into the SD card.
Right Click on the SD card, and choose 'Eject'
Open the SD Card flap on the tablet and look for the Serial Number, it will start with 'BB0020101100XXXX', write it down now, for later use.
Remove the SD Card from the computer and turn on your tablet
Insert the SD card into the tablet with the 'Gold Fingers' facing you, if the tablet front is facing you.
Tap on Settings, located in the Applications folder
Tap on 'Applications'
Tap on 'Unknown sources' and agree to the changes
Tap on the Home Icon on the tablet body
Tap on the application folder, { 4 x 4 Blocks on the tablet screen }
Tap on the 'File Manager'
Tap on 'SD card'
Tap on MACAddress file
Install the MACAddress file
Write in the Serial Number, using capital letters for the BBs
Tap the Generate MAC code
Restart your tablet by turning it off, Power button located at the top
Once it is back on, Go into settings, MAKE SURE THAT THE Wi-Fi is working
VERY CRITICAL: Also Tap 'Turn on Bluetooth'
Tap on the Gmail Icon to enter your information.
Your Identity Tablet should now have no problem connecting to the Gmail servers!

I just bought this tablet for my daughter. It has been great with the exception of 1 problem-This knocking/clicking noise during videos that she records & during the Heytell app that we use. It's an awesome app that I use on my smartphone & was so excited that she could use this on her tablet to talk with me while she is out of town. But half the time all I hear is the click, click click instead of her voice....Do I have a lemon?
Just received a filemate identity tab for Christmas. After an overnight charge, and using it for only ten minutes, I turned it off. Now it will not turn back on.
Its a brick. Did not root it, only added a couple apps.
when i hook it to the charger or to the pc, nothing happens.
@SickMFDog We purchased one for our son a few weeks ago for christmas and his just did the same thing, so I put in the mini disk to troubleshoot the issue and there is a reset button in the compartment where the sd card and hdmi output is located. Its rather small so you will have to use a small object to hit the button but as soon as I pushed it the tab came back on and everything was saved on his tab!!! (Its a small round hole, I used a paperclip to push the button)

I've had great luck with mine.
Was hesitant but did root it. (z4root) must do permanent root, i tried temporary first to no avail..
Now, even though the hard buttons on this tab are neat, a sweet little add-on allows soft access to home, back, etc..
I find the battery life to be good, and one can operate it while charging - with the supplied charger.

Reason: details
Just received an Identity Tablet for xmas. I have an 8gb micro sd card (with the adapter) in it and yesterday it stopped reading the card. When I go into the settings and it shows that the sd card is in the tablet but it just shows 00. I tried formatting the sd card and it still doesn't read it. I haven't rooted the tablet the problem started after I tried to add ebooks to the tablet. I'm thinking about trying to reset the tablet to see if that might work. Anyone else having/ had this issue.

What hack did you use after you rooted your tablet?
These e201 tablets are actually made by Enspert out of Korea. Wintec just puts a sticker over the Enspert name and resells them at a higher price. I bought 4 of them as xmas gifts for $129 each (on black Friday) from dynamism.com. Not a bad tablet at all. Nice to see others feel the same way. It would be sweet if a new rom could be made as they are running 2.2. The identitytab.com site has the kernel.tar and e201.img file available if that would help anyone out there.
it was good at first............ until it suddenly wouldn't start and the reset button doesnt work either the cd that came with it the conference one software wouldn't work on my computer I have windows 7 when at setup an error code came up and said the software was corrupted it says you can download in at idenitytab.com but they only have the Korean version and i dont read Korean i bought it at walmart and payed alot of money for product replacement and it only covers broken screen or water damage and was told to call wintech for costumer support because ive only had it 2-3 months ive try calling 3 days in a row never talked to anyone left over 10 message with my number not even the operator would come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wish i got another one!!!!!!!!!!!because this is a pain software is completely messed up O and did i forget to mention i bought a very expensive 16g class 10 sd card that it wouldnt even recognize at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!super pissed still waiting for costumer service to call back....:/
I bought 2 of the identity tablets last oct 2011 - one for a gift and the other for myself. Both have now failed. The first to fail - the gift - was picked up by Wintec on their dime and replaced - never heard what they determined was wrong with it. Now this past week mine has failed in exactly the same manner.
At first when I turned it on the notifications would say 'preparing SD card' and it would turn on fine; and operate fine. Then it finally began to say 'preparing SD card...safe to remove SD card and then SD card is defective.'
After defragging the 16GB Wintec removable card it still would not 'see' the card. Then I thought I had the removable card in the tablet, when I did not, and lo and behold I still got the same messages!? I then realized it was referring to the SSD of the device and even though it would boot when I went into settings the internal SSD was not being recognized. Then after shutting the device down normally I had dinner. I came back to start up the device and it simply displayed the boot splash screen " the green android boy ".
Now it is a brick - none of the recommended fixes e.g. battery drain, reload the OS firmware from the external drive work. I am now faced with returning this at my expense if you guys don't have some workarounds.
But wait ! if it couldn't see the internal SSD drive why did it boot at all?
The answer is I never had it off long enough to drain the capacitor that breaths life into the volatile RAM, until I had it off long enough to do that and it was forced to refresh the RAM image from the SSD which was now undetectable.
Please help as even if this unit is replaced it will still fail from the same cause that made these two fail. I need a workaround.

Go to the Wintec website and start an RMA to return the device to Wintec. Walmart's warranty only kicks in after the original warranty expires which does you no good. You need to get to Charles Friday - yes that is his real name - in customer support.
Also register on their customer support site by opening a ticket , this account will serve as a paper trail for all correspondence relating to the return. Your login is your email address, and your password is also your email. They will send you an email detailing this. They set the initial username and password as your email.
Hope this helps.

Reason: misspelling
its not your external SD card its not recognizing its your internal SD card which means it may be getting ready to brick - same thing happened to me and its still a brick- read my post below.

Am hoping this thread is drawing more unhappy than happy customers. Mine is hanging in there. It does seem well built. Hopefully there was a hardware bug addressed in late production..
