Default Best Option Verizon offers for android

Ok, so I am a reformed Blackberry user that went back to just a basic phone two years ago...I am getting ready to finally step up to the smartphone world again with a droid...as a verizon customer, which phone would be your recommendation? I am tech savvy, I want the best possible battery life. I have been looking at reviews on the new droid razr, and the non removable battery scares me a little. the phone will probably end up being rooted, so that may play into as well.
any info for a newbie is much appreciated!

As a Verizon customer you are in luck at the moment. There are 3 really top notch phones right around the corner. The Droid Razr (as you mentioned), the HTC Rezound and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Each one will offer different things, but all will have really nice hardware and be great devices.

Droid Razr will have be the thinnest of all phones and has a tough as nails exterior. It has a very nice screen and great specs. Possible minuses for some will be the non-removable battery and locked bootloader.

HTC Rezound (aka Vigor) will have Beats audio enhancement, HTC Sense (plus for some minus for others), really nice specs and a great screen. Possible minuses for some will be battery life (no idea what it is yet, TBH).

Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be the first phone with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0 OS), a huge screen, great specs and zero bloatware from Verizon. Possible minuses for some will be the size of the device and no micro sd card slot.

All of these are LTE phones and all will be about $299 at launch. Each one is pretty impressive and will be a great phone. Speculations show that by mid November all the phones will on the market so the final comparisons will be available. You really can't go wrong with any of them.

Happy hunting and welcome to the forum.

If you want good battery life, you're probably not going to want to buy a 4G phone right now.

wow i i'm in exactly the same boat. from researching, it seems the nexus is the way to go if you don't mind not having an sd slot (retarted moved i think since verizon got rid of unlimited data this summer). i like the rezound a lot but there were a lot of problems with previous htc phones (dinc and tbolt) and the rezound might share some of the parts from them (the radio from t-bolt, etc.) and the razr doesn't have a removeable battery and also doesn't have HD (another brilliant move).

so pick your poison
