Default Galaxy S2 White Dark Screen on automatic?

I have a black Galaxy S2 and also bought a white one for the gf.

Now her screen is much darker on automatic screen brightness but just as bright on manual maximum settings.

I wonder if the white cover could make the sensor think there is more light? Did Samsung forget about that or do I have a faulty phone? I am curious to hear from other white Galaxy S2 owners...

Thanks in advance

Perhaps it's an optical illusion, similar to the one where a grey square surrounded by black border appears lighter than a grey square surrounded by a white border?

Also if it truly is darker that means the sensor is detecting less, not more, light than yours (in dark rooms, less brightness suffices)

I'd vote for optical illusion, too.

Sorry for the late update but I cracked the problem. No optical illusion, just different settings as mine was on manual brightness... DOH. Put hers on manual and it is fine now.
