Default Transferring apps to new device

Hello all,
I just recently switched from a Samsung Galaxy S II at T-mobile to a Samsung Droid Charge at Verizon. I wasn't getting very good reception at T-mobile, so the switch happened pretty quickly. I had a bunch of apps on the GS2 that I saved to the SD card. When I got my Droid Charge, I put the SD card in, but the Charge doesn't see my apps. Both phones were running Gingerbread. Is there any way to make my Droid Charge recognize those apps that are on the SD card? Neither phone is/was rooted, and I don't have the SG2 anymore.

Did you download those apps off of Google's Market? If so logging in on the Droid using the same Google account as the one on the SGS2 should tigger Market to redownload all your previously downloaded apps.

It did not. Besides, I need the app data that's on the SD card. I don't want to lose my already-created accounts.

Thats odd that it didn't. It should show up My Apps Market accessible thru the menu key.

Which apps are they if you dont mind my asking? If they are games your accounts are usually linked to your phones MEID, in which case you have to email th developers customer service dept to inform them of the change in phones

All 3 Angry Birds, Japan Life, Dark Galaxy, a few others. I only had the GS2 for like a week, and I don't have the MEID/IMEI from the GS2. All the data I need is already on the SD card, I just need to make the Charge recognize it somehow.

If the games are free then you will have to go back to the market and download them again, I believe only the paid apps are tract when switching phones. Try installing Angry birds off the market and see if it recognize the data on your SD card.

Tried that already. Didn't work. Is there a trick to transferring apps and app data from one device to another?

A lot of apps data is stored on sdcard/Android/data/appname but if its not working for Angry Birds it might be stored server side so youd have to contact them. i know that a game called What the Doodle linked your account to the phone and they dont let you transfer between phones, and I was pissed because I was ranked like 50 in the world

Well, sounds like I'm screwed. I'll contact the app developers that have that option, and the rest I'll just start over. Thanks for all your help guys.

It sounds like you gamed the hell out of your phone in a weeks time..

I've heard people talk about an app called Titanium Backup Pro that allows you to backup and restore apps, and might work for game progress. So before your next phone switch, it wouldnt hurt to use that app

Just a suggestion but it could have something to do with the way Android handles apps in the android_secure folder. Try doing some research on this.

You cant transfer app data unless you are rooted and bought Titanium backup or My Backup Pro. Even then, when you restore to a different phone, you restore only app data and redownload the apps from the Market.
