Disappointed with lack of outlook notes and tasks support as a recent webos convert
Well, i've had my Nexus S2 for 2 days now and must saythat ass a new convert to android that i'm very disappointed:
First, there really is no way to gracefully sync with my outlook tasks and notes. That's a show stopper for me and others that I work with.
Next, lack of ability to integrate emails with gmail into one common email client.
Next, poor support for MS Exchange email and calendar integration again into one place.
These are all very serious limitations as compared to my old webos (obsolete). I'm going back to my pre 3 as it meets all these needs unless someone can tell me that i'm wrong.
Yeah there are a lot of cool apps but of what use are they if I can't do any of my activities of daily living...
outlook tasks and notes....
MS Exchange email and calendar integration
Above are MS proprietary product so to integrate with them isn't easy. That's why equivalent apps offering similar features are created.
With Nokia+WinMobile coming up next year I would think they would want to stress those nice integration to MS product as great selling point. Perhaps you can wait until next year to get one?
Since I gave up on Outlook years ago, I haven't used it myself but I've heard really good things about touchdown (available in the market). It's not free but I believe they offer an extended free trial. Worth a look. If all you need is a unified mailbox, and give k9 a try. Totally free in the market. Good luck!

I think some users are "forced" cuz their company official software uses those MS specific so with a Android they hope they can connect to those office back-end servers.
Nexus S2? You're confusing me, AFAIK there is no such phone. You have a Galaxy S2, or a Galaxy Nexus, and the Nexus S. The Galaxy S2 has proper Outlook Notes and Tasks sync capability. While on your Nexus phone, installing Producteev can help, as that syncs with Outlook tasks.

Along the same lines I can't believe how horrible the calendar integration with Outlook is on iOS (iPhone 4S / iPad).
The one thing with Google is the lack of a good "to do list" feature, which I work around by using the calendar more. But it would be nice to have a good "to do list".

While it's true that stock Android is lacking in these areas, this is mostly available on HTC devices that run Sense. The exceptions are tasks and notes as activesync does not support this.

Hello chanchan05, would you please tell me how to sync my outlook notes and tasks with my Galaxy S2? I thought that you had to purchase an app for this...

Thank you!
As long as you have an international device, or your carrier did not remove the native Samsung task app, just connect your phone to your.computer in Kies mode. You need Samsung Kies installed on your PC (it usually comes in a CD in the box). Make sure that tasks sync is checked on Kies, then press sync.
If the tasks app is removed from your phone, you need to sync Outlook tasks to producteev.com. From there, you either sync it to an Android app that syncs directly to producteev, like Astrid tasks, or you sync producteev to Google tasks.
S2. In summary from the responses I see in there really appears to be no good integrated solution right now. Too bad. Android 4 needs to mature for another 1-2 years. The point that I'm making is that there's a better os out there (even if obsolete ) that does all the integration I need very elegantly and is much simpler to use / configure (webos). For someone with my type of business needs I think I can be comfortable using it for 2-3 years until android or ios grow up.

Sorry for your troubles but I think a lot of people are either being forced into new devices or want to join the ranks of android or iOS users. The problem is they do not properly research what they are getting. If I still did a lot of business on my phone I would have stuck with my blackberry. However, businesses are building around such operating systems now and everything is moving to cloud based operations. I no longer have an android phone (sold out and went iPhone ) but everything you are describing I can do on my rooted asus transformer.
