real noob question here
how can i tell what rc update i am at and what is a rooted g1 ?

sorry again if this sounds dumb

Press:

Menu|System Settings|About Phone ...
Scroll down to view Build Number ..... Current version for non-rooted phones is RC33

A rooted phone is one that has been modified for full access to the root of the Operating System ...

Check out the FAQ's and do a Tag Search for 'root' you will find all the info about rooting, step by step, benefits, etc ...
