Question Unlocked Android phone that works in India

Hi all,

Am going to be moving to Bangalore, India for a year. I'd like to get an unlocked Android phone to use there, both rooted so I can tether, and GMS-unlocked for calling/texting in India. Does anyone know how I can find out which phones will do this job for me, and which bands are applicable in India? Many thanks.

Best,
Gene

All phone companies in India support the 900MHz band. Some also support 1800MHz. You'll want to get a dual-band android phone (ie supports 900 and 1800). That's about all the legwork I'm prepared to do. There's hundreds of different android phones out there. Find one you like that's dual-band (or quad-band).
