Default Ringtone over loudspeaker (how to stop it)

Hello

Using a Galaxy S Plus (GT-I9001) running 2.3.3 but as far as i can see, the issue has to do with android.

The ringtone is played over the loudspeakers even when the earphones are plugged in. I understand that this is default and no easy way to change it over settings. This is not good for me (although I can understand there are situations where it is desirable) and I want to change it.

Anybody knows how? Maybe an app that will let you control the setting?

As I have the "bastard" S plus there are no custom ROMs out there like cyanogen that I can use . The phone is rooted, though.

Thanks in advance for any help .
