Default Function(s) of Every File in stock - What are the?

Is there a site or a book or a blog which explains the meaning and function of every single file on an android, from the sounds that are played during start-up, to the files associated with darkening or lightening the screen brightness?

I'm thinking there should (or already must be) a place where every single file on an android is explained.

What do people know about this?

Is this something you've thought about? Would like to see?
Would someone be interested in looking in to this?

An infographic linking all the system files and apps and media would be extremely helpful.

Android consists of Linux, providing software services and access to hardware, a Dalvik Virtual Machine, and apps that run inside of that of that virtual machine.

Explaining every file in Android would be much like explaining every file in Windows - it's a complete preemptive multitasking operating system.

If there's some specific areas you're interested in and available to you without root access, then those will tend to appear on your SD card.
