I think this is kinda of a slated poll, since this is an Android community I am sure Android will have the most votes.

If you click on Apple iOS, does it automatically ban you from this site?

The iTunes requirement is a known point of contention (even among people who happily own iOS devices), so I don't think the article really points out anything new.

Many people do praise iTunes for its ability to manage music and therefore these other inconveniences are worth it.

iOS makes it a point to abstract away the file system as much as possible. Whether one agrees with this methodology or not is often the difference between an iFan and a Phandroid. Whichever OS you prefer is obviously the winner. For you.

Shock horror, Android wins! As a former iphone user I have seen similar polls/threads on apple/iphone forums and oddly enough the results, conclusions and preference were of course for apple/IOS. As a user of both I honestly see it this way; IOS holds your hand in various ways and just works out of the box. Android takes a little more user input but lets you do so much more and is for me at least, worth that extra effort.
Have to say, I have always hated itunes. A truly awful bit of software...

That article is ridiculous, and it should be noted that iTunes and a computer is no longer required with iOS 5. Each OS is different and certain things about each may be better or worse, but it really only matters what you want to use. Haven't we had enough of these silly topics? Also, as a developer and sysadmin, I don't understand the obsession with people wanting things to be complicated. It reminds me of one of my linux professors in college bitching about how some MS admin he worked with could do some task (I forget what it was) by clicking, but he "didn't have to know how to write a script and set up a cron job blah blah" like it was a sin. So what? Why do so many somewhat-capable tech fans seem to think the more difficult something is to use or do, the 'better' it is. Go ride a ****ing horse then, I'll drive my car.

I'm not happy with iOS just because of the hassle you have to through for developing apps. I'm not really familiar with Windows OS so I can't really compare.

I agree. I've kind of been waiting for the win 8 beta to drop before I look into their market/etc process very thoroughly, but a few things surrounding iOS development could benefit from a once over from Apple's "you already know how to use it" department. Unless you just meant that you can't sideload, in which case WP7 is the same way.
