Question Ringtone size limit?

Is there a maximum size or length for a music file to be used as a ringtone?

Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken I think 40 seconds is the max but don't quote me on that I know if i make one using Myxer that is the max it will let me make them. I use audacity now but keep within that limit.

My phone allows me to select any song from the music player as a ringtone though.

Thanks for your replies. Yes, I am able to select any song from the music player too, and use it as a ringtone. But as I am having an ongoing problem with the phone not playing the correct assigned custom contact ringtone, I wondered if the size or length of the file might be the issue.
It was only a long shot though - neither Google nor Samsung have been able to fix the problem.

I have tried using a file that is used on another phone with success. I try it on the phone and it tells me "The song is too big to be setted as ringtone" exact wording. the file is 27 seconds long and 422 KB.

Default maximum size for Ringtones

According to the creators of the android os, the maximum size for a ringtone is no greater than 30 seconds or 300kb.
