Default ICS Forcing me to Enable Pin/Lock Screen

So today I woke up and my two MS Exchange emails flashed a yellow error that said "please update your security measures before mail can be sync'd". Something along those lines.

Anyways so I click on the error and it brings me to the Settings -> Security and asks me to complete a pin code. I do so, not really thinking about it and now every time I turn my phone on, it's making me enter in the Pin to unlock the phone.

Anyone else experience this recently? Are these security requirements coming from my companies MS Exchange servers?

ah-ha! so my search results finally got something worthwhile --

How do I turn off the exchange e-mail PIN lock?

It appears this is a setting my admin at work as set up, nothing I can do. bummer!
