Unhappy HELP! Message settings keep giving me error code com.android.mms

Ok so I cant even open my message settings at all. Everytime I try I get an error code that says process com.android.mms has stopped working force close? I want to be able to access my settings. I hate that it sends my number with every text. All kinds of things. Please help

Maybe a bit of information is required first. What phone are you using, what version of Android is it on and are you rooted and/or using a custom rom?

Also, try clearing the data on your messaging app. Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All tab > Messenger > clear data. This will clear out your text history, so make sure you back up anything you wish to keep.

Or, alternatively, you could use a third party text messenger service. Like GO SMS or Handcent.
