My battery life is astounding! Of course, I have a Galaxy Player 5.0....an SGS2 I believe, but without the phone chip. Anyway, I dumped my smartphone (and the insane monthly charges) and now I use a cheap clamshell phone and this SGP5. Never been happier!!
i-9003, stock ROM. Normal life would be 11-13hours moderate use, less if I decide to surf and read more than 3 chapters of an ebook. Standby time could reach more than 24hrs if I leave it alone sitting on a desk according to the battery usage estimates.

You need to be more specific about what you mean by "moderate usage". On an average day for me, my phone will last the whole day without needing a recharge.
As for continuous usage, I think my phone can last for over 5 hours of continuous web surfing. Normally, I don't continuously surf on my phone. I may check things for a few minutes or more at a time and then I put my phone away for a few hours.
I have an Atrix 4G on AT&T and on battery saver mode that thing lasts me all day at work plus more. My job involves driving a couple hundred miles per day and I use it for GPS all day long as well. My work vehicle has no working cigarette lighters to charge the phone with either.

I have an Atrix 4G as well and loving the battery life on average. I get between 12 to 14 hrs to 30% battery, on average usage. I have a live wallpaper, over 20 widgets on 7 home screens, two e-mail accts. (I manually check a few times a day.) Stream music for a few hours as well as using bluetooth and wifi. Use GPS for 20 min. and send around 20 text a day. I do other things as well through out the day. Since I use my Lapdock everyday for about an hour, which charges my phone when docked, I'm hardly ever low on battery.
Galaxy S i9000 CM7...if I just use it as a phone, that is phone calls and SMS, it'll probably go for a couple of days. Start playing games and watching videos, then it's a lot less, maybe 12 hours.
If I don't use my phone its good, but if I use Wifi, tethering, music and some (not many) voice calls, the battery life is very bad (and the phone get very hot too!).
But then again, I have a very low-end phone = Samsung GT-5670 (Fit)!

I run my devices pretty heavily, lots of surfing on 3G/4G, tethering, *name your use here*. I usually get about 6 hours out of my battery, which is why I carry two lol.
I doubt if you will get much posts saying that anyone has had awesome battery life. These batteries suck Big time.
Well, you are definitely wrong there. I'm a pretty moderate/heavy user, and I can easily get 12-15 hours out of my battery. Typically I unplug my phone at 5 AM, when I go to bed at around 10 PM my battery is typically still at 25%. Samsung sure knows how to make their batteries last these days. I figured my battery life would be terrible with a 5.3" screen, but I don't even feel the need to buy a spare battery. I guess the 2500 mah battery really does the trick.
I did a test over the weekend, and I was able to get 8 hours and 25 minutes of battery life with a 720P video playing the entire time.
I can get a full day of moderate to semi-heavy usage. Depends on how much of the day i am on wi-fi. Also i usually leave it on 3g unless I am actively using my phone. If i had to stretch it ( activity trying to save power) I am not sure exactly how long i could make my razr last. Smart actions help. However I always have a charger with me. I have two wall chargers, one always stays in my car, also have a car charger. So I usually dont really pay attention to how much battery I drain, because I always have a charger with me.
My Galaxy will have all of its battery drained at around 4hours or screen usage, no matter how long it stays in stand by.
Also, voice calls drain the battery a lot.
There, around 10 hours of standby with Wifi on all the time, and the battery dropped like 5%, and I had the alarm do snooze like 7 times lol, so include some ringing and vibing. Also I received some whatsapp messages and e-mail.

+1 for it's all about usage. On weekdays, I use my phone as a music player during my work hours, go home and text and whatnot. So at night when I go to bed, I'm at about 30% with 16 hours used time.
When I have a day off, I might use 30%-40% of my battery in a given day, because I'm not using it as a music player, or am using my tablet, or just not using it because I'm doing other things.
I can get up to 2 days using Juice Defender in my Galaxy Ace.
With moderate use (3 sms p/hour 5 hours using wifi, and some normal (quick calls) and 2h of music) It can easily last one day.
JD is good at making an idle droid last a couple days, but if you use the droid, JD has to stand aside and let battery life shorten to a few hours.
In the case of my puny Optimus, the battery is pathetic, and therefore, the phone shouldn’t have been released. It’s not ready for prime time, although it is otherwise terrific.
With a Droid Razr (just the Razr, not the Maxx), I did a test today (second day I've had the phone), and with what I would define as moderate use (a few hours of web surfing, hours of texting, about 20 minutes of call time, and some other miscellaneous stuff) I got about 10 hours with good battery use applications. For me, that is great, because for one thing, I could always use my phone for nothing but txting (which kinda defeats the purpose), but for the other, I always have my extended battery charger with me, and I didn't "limit" myself today, as I wanted to push the limits of the battery. What surprised me the most is that after spending only 20 mins on calls, it was like 20% of my battery use over almost 10 hours... granted, about 18 of it was on speaker phone, so maybe that had something to do with it?

With my Epic 4G Touch I easily go all day. I've only killed the battery once after about 15 hours of heavy usage (gaming, texting, music, and web surfing all day). With normal usage I normally have over 40% of my battery left at the end of a 14-15 hour day...
I bought a 3800 mAh battery (only $10 on eBay)

My year and a half old Droid X with the original battery still gets 15 to 20 hours a day. I'm a light to moderate user. Heavy use days probably about 10 hours.
Right now I'm at 60% after 15.5 hours, but I have hardly used it at all today.

My HTC Inspire gets about 7-9 hours depending on what I do. Usually I have my 120 GB iPod to handle the music. Sometimes I use bluetooth to connect to my car's stereo. 4G sometimes, otherwise when I'm at work, I put it on airplane mode and put Wifi on with Autosync.
The thing is that people that come from simple cell phones have to change their mentality about smartphones.
They're not cellphones anymore, they're mini-computers that make calls.
They have so many apps that it's impossible to leave it aside for many hours, so you're constantly using it, thus the battery drains.
My "usage pattern" parameter is always the display time counter. I always have the screen on for more than 4 hours before the battery is dead, so that's a lot of time playing with the device.
My old Samsung dumbphone lasted 3 days without recharging, but then, the sum of the whole screen on time wouldn't be longer than 30 minutes.

It's the data that kills the phone.
It's not just the data, it is the cell signal in general. In airplane mode you also can not place or receive calls which does not use data. Also the screen is usually the biggest drain on the battery, so in airplane mode with the screen off, you phone is not doing anything at all so there really isn't anything to drain the battery.
I have to say bad as if I do something as simple as forgetting to turn the GPS off after a drive, few hours later on my way home I got half power bars left.
can sometimes use allot at night while I sleep but I take thats from checking 3 email accounts every 15min. But its never the same in the AM, sometimes it still full, sometimes half power.

There's something wrong there.
GPS enabled while not in use isn't supposed to drain much power, unless you leave Maps with the screen on.
And that e-mail checking shouldn't be a big problem also. You have another problem.
I agree with Kicksliver... there seams to be another issue... I am going to guess a spotty cell signal at your home.
GPS.. if the radio is enabled.. but if there is NO apps asking for location.. then the radio is not doing anything and will draw 1% battery /day. if you leave the MAP app running while driving home; then of course it will continue to gather gps data..killing your battery.
emails at night.. unless you are getting a LOT of emails or huge data emails.. then it should not drain battery either... did you know, that you can set email updates for both: Peak and OFF-Peak hrs? i have my OFF-Peak to only check emails ONCE per night.. Peak is every 30 mins.
On my Desire I get about 7-8 hours with 3g/WiFI mid brightness and I use it as a music player for bus rides which is about an hour a day.
I get about the same on my Wildfire, however my Tablet can last over a week using it to read news articles and eBooks, occasional IM and watch videos, all on WiFi only.
Been to random to nail down, as its not an absolute, sometimes it uses very little power. Other times when Im not watching I look and the battery is at 60-50%
