Default root access

how do i know if i have rot access on my samsung galaxy? is there a command i can type in or sumthin? i followed all instructions on the xda site but it didnt do anything when everything was finished so im kinda thinkin i dont have root access.. do i need to reboot it or anything?

there is an app on the app market. "terminal emulator" download it and open it. the type su and hit enter. if it says access denied then ur not rooted. if it shows "##" u are rooted

thank you for the quick response but everytime i try to download the terminal emulator onto my phone it says installation unsuccessful

You can do the same on your PC. Shift right-click in your android-sdk/tools folder to bring up command prompt. Type:

adb shell

Hit enter, then type:

su

If the next line comes up with #, you're rooted. Er, do this while the phone's connected to your PC, of course.
