Default Will "GSM Unlocked" work on data with T-mobile?

I'm planning on buying an unlocked Android GSM phone. I know that the voice functions will work, but how about data? If the phone was originally intended for ATT, before it was unlocked, will it use the right frequencies for data. I believe that T-Mobile uses 1700 Mhz for its data, wheras ATT uses 1800? (not sure about this).

Some unlocked phones are said to be "international versions". I suspect that that may mean they use european frequencies for data which may be different again. Is this the case?

Any thoughts from you experts would be very welcome

Hi, welcome

Yes you are correct, at&t (hsdpa 850/1900/2100) and t-mobile (900/1700/2100) use different frequency bands...but bands differ from phones

When purchasing an unlocked phone, you have to find out which frequency band the phone uses so you will know if you will be able to access the phone's 3g capibilities, if you are say with T-Mobile and get a phone with only frequency bands for At&t, you will only be able to access Edge, and will not be able to access 3g (iPhone users who are on T-Mobile only get Edge)
