Default Ipod Music onto Samsung Galaxy S2 - Help!

Hi There,

I'm a brand new & not very up to speed Samsung Galaxy S2 user

I love my new phone but I'm afraid I'm not very up to speed with everything it can do. I'm currently trying to put my vast amount of music from my ipod onto my s2...with no luck. I've been looking & people have suggested isync?...or kies?...I've had no joy with either. What I'm really looking for is a step by step on what I need to do to get this working......I was a Blackberry die hard for years....so am really new to this whole app thing but want to get more in touch with what my wonderful phone can do!

Please help a newbie!

Thanks.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums!

Here's the easy part, Jeanod.

On your phone, go to menu>settings>wireless & networks>usb utilities and select connect storage to PC. You should be prompted at that point to plug in your phone via USB (or unplug it, if it's already plugged in and then repeat the process.) Once it's connected you should see prompts to mount as storage, which once you accept, your phone's memory will show up on your PC as a removable drive. Open that location and create a folder called 'music' (without the quotes).

Now, find your iTunes library. Windows 7 puts it in C:\Users\<user profile>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music. If there is enough room on your phone, simply copy all the contents of your iTunes library to the phone. Or, if you only want certain artists or albums, copy them one at a time.

If you have play lists in iTunes that you want as well, simply open iTunes and export the play lists as .m3u files and copy them to a folder on your phone called 'playlists'. Create it if it's not there.

When you turn off USB storage on the phone, Android will scan your new files and folders and your music will be there as well as your play lists.

Other than the exact menu options to put the phone into mass storage mode, this works for any Android device.

Oh Thanks so much.......wasn't that hard at all!!

Only problem is on my laptop I could only find some of my music.....My iPod has a lot more music on it than shows up in my library as I had to change laptop's some months back....is there anyway to copy straight from iPod onto phone???

Thanks though, I got a lot of my albums on!

In Apple's infinite greed wisdom, they chose in the design of iPods -- at least the earlier ones -- to rename the media files when they are copied to prevent sharing them easily. I think it may be because DRM was removed when copied to the device.

If they were purchased through iTunes, I believe Apple lets you redownload your library without charge once, just for such cases, but I'm not certain of that.

As long as it's not an ipod touch (iOS devices don't work with anything but itunes), Winamp should be able to copy it back to your PC. I'm sure there are other programs that can do this as well.

If you prefer a media player to manage music on your phone, I believe Winamp, Double Twist, and Miro can connect to Android devices.

Personally, I just copy the files.
