Default So what happens when I update to icecream sandwich?

Hey, I have a Galaxy S2 and I guess that we will get the new android version soonish from the looks of it.

My question is what will happen to all the software and customization that we did - does it all reset to factory defaults? What about paid software? I guess it stays linked with my google account right?

Thanks

When i upgraded my iPod to iOS 5, it was erased and i had to resync it with iTunes. I would expect the same thing to happen when upgrading to ICS. The software you bought from the android market will still be on your google account.

Nothing happens. You won't lose any data or apps.

I upgraded my Galaxy from 2.2 to 2.3. If you update via Kies, Samsung UDP (User Data Protocol) will be used and you won't lose anything.

Some apps may not be compatible and/or might have problems with ICS though, until they've been updated I suppose.

It may be a bit far-fetched, but it really depends on the way they update your phone. All of your data will be fine with an OTA update, but if they opt for a RUU update, everything will be gone. For my HTC Desire, the update from Froyo to Gingerbread was a RUU, which cleared everything in my phone.
