Default Due an upgrade, HTC Sensation XL?

Due an upgrade in two weeks time and I'm a bit stumped to which phone I should go for, the only one that has caught my eye is the HTC SensationXL, I'm currently using a desire, I use the phone mostly for web browsing, listing to podcasts, watching videos and calling/texting obviously.

Any ideas or should I go with the sensationXL?

I'm based in the UK on the three network.

If you're an HTC fan (I rather am), you're going to find the SensationXL a _huge_ step up from your Desire. (I'm using the 3D variant of the same platform.)

The dual core advantages of higher performance while consuming less battery ought be very apparent, as will more breathing room to store more apps. Plus the Sense updates are quite nice over the older versions - except for News and the Calendar - those they "improved" until they were useless to me, so I use 3rd party apps for those things.

I do like HTC, though my desire is the first smart phone I've ever had so I can't really compare it against any other model (apart form my wives Sony Ericsson xperia and the less said about that the better) a few people have suggested the galaxy s2 but it feels to lightweight for my liking, it feels so light I'd be afraid to fart if I had it in my back pocket for fear of snapping it in two.

The only reservations I have about the sensation is I've read a few people have had issues with a crackling noise when making phone calls and that the external speaker isn't very good, this would be a problem as I use the phone every night I'm in bed listening to podcasts, also is the phone only available in white?

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is perhaps one of the best phones out there, but on the HTC side, it outguns the Sensation XL. The Sensation XE (the one with the Beats) is the one with the hardware to go up against the S2 in terms of power and capability.
