Default Any advice for using Camcorder for concert/Sporting events?

I'll be going to a concert, as well as a wrestling event in the upcoming months, and this will be the first time with my Galaxy S II. I went to a concert last year, with my G2X, and tried recording, and pictures came out horrible, and the video recording was awful, not only visually, but almost nothing could be heard due to the bass (I was close to the stage, maybe 6th row).

The concert I'm going to this year is at the same venue as last year's and I'll be just as close, if not closer to the stage. Any advice, for better sound/visual quality. I don't expect something like what a $1000 camera could do either, but something that's at least clear audio, and somewhat decent visuals. It's an extremely low lit event, with just enough light to see, besides all the special lighting effects during the concert.

The other event will be at Madison Square Garden, and I'm not worried about sound, but any tips for getting the best visual? Thanks in advance .

I've been asking the same questions on XDA to no avail... Won't a single dev help out?? I just went to a super loud (Die Antwoord) concert 2 days ago with my Hercules (T-Mo SGS2) and the video came out amazing.... the audio however... terrible. You can see the youtube video, (I can't post links yet cause I signed up today just to reply) google "blakemoo Fok Julle Naaiers" for one and the "Helsott" video I posted also is with both Mic's covered. Helsott was a louder show but I was also farther back. There will be no help for us regarding this issue.

Appreciate the response. Just noticed it now. I have my first event to go to next week, and I'm sort of annoyed that I won't be getting decent quality. Has anyone figured out a way?

Check the Google Play (Android Market) for an app called "TapeMachine Recorder". Sounds like just what you're looking for. It has a built in limiter to control the sound level. And displays the waveform as it's recorded so you can see if the input level is too high.

"TapeMachine Recorder" is the full version, but it's not free. I wouldn't expect an app like this to be free anyway.

"TapeMachine Lite Recorder" is the free version.

You could test the app by playing your stereo real loud and putting the phone close to the speakers. That would give you an idea how well it could work at the concert.

The downside is that it doesn't do the video you wanted. Maybe you could run a camera/video app and the TapeMachine at the same time.

I might just try this myself.

I would caution against video recording a concert or indoor sporting event. It's very likely illegal and infringement of copyright. If you're caught doing it, could mean trouble.

TBH trying to record a loud concert with a mobile phone is just not going to be satisfactory. Buying the official DVD might be better.

I tried recording some of our school gala concert with my Galaxy S, but the results where quite horrible, so I deleted it and kept the official video that was recorded with professional grade equipment.
