Default Is my HTC Desire S a legit version?

Hi,

Just want to be sure if my HTC Desire S is totally legit and not a clone. I got it from China through someone here in South Africa.

It's got what I'm sure is legitimate Android on it (I'm new to smartphones, so I wouldn't know what that it is! But it looks like the Android 2.3.3 I see on YouTube.). It starts with the HTC splash screen, which also looks legit. The sticker on the box looks pretty legit, with the same IMEI as in the phone.

But there's one or two things that make me wonder. I checked the IMEI on numberingplans.com, and although it shows the IMEI Assessment Validity as very in the green (it shows it as "very likely"), it says the serial number is 511131. In About phone > Phone identity, my Device serial number entry is a very strange looking 123456789012. Also, the IMEI SV is 01 under Phone identity, which is kind of strange looking too, isn't it?

Just wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks.

As far as I know, all HTC handsets have a serial number beginning HT. Based on what you've posted, I'd say it sounds like a clone.

Does it work as you'd expect, is it relatively stable?

Yeah, it works. Seems pretty stable. Didn't have a 'power' entry under settings, which I found strange.

The box sticker has a serial number of SH1CATJxxxxx. The serial number in the About screen is that 123456789012. Any ideas, anyone?
