The drop isn't so much of a big deal as the liquid damage. Even if you repair the phone, it will likely fail again within a matter of time especially if there's damage to the main board (likely). At the Sprint repair center I work for I have to instruct the customer to file an insurance claim on liquid damaged phones. The way it works here is that you pay a deductible and then receive a new phone the next day. Your insurance company should handle this about the same way I would think.
As far as craigslist. It's a website (craigslist.org) where you can buy/sell things locally. There's a cell phone section where you could possibly find another phone for cheap. Just make sure you get the ESN number from under the battery and call your carrier with it. They can tell you if it's a clean ESN. A phone will a bad ESN won't be able to be activated so keep that in mind before you buy.
