Default Twitter for Android (Location)

I'm using the latest Twitter app by Twitter Inc. 3.2.1 and I can't seem to be able to add location to my tweets. And yes I have all the location settings turned on; GPS, Google location services, and the mobile network and wifi detection settings. My tweets just get sent like I never even touched the add location button, and I've tried many times, on another account too.

I'm using the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but I'm posting this in the general Android forums because I'm assuming this updated twitter app isn't just for Galaxy Nexus. And there maybe problems with other phones, I've looked in the reviews and no cases so far as what I've described above.

Have you tried clearing data from the application? Doing so usually fixes most issues.

In settings (in the ME tab) there is a check-box to allow Twitter to use your location, make sure that is checked.

Yes that was already checked.

EDIT: Just for proof that I am not saying it for the sake of it. That setting is under the advanced, and is below the proxy settings

No, right in the Twitter app.
Select the ME tab, then settings, then allow location.

Yes I know, I'm saying those options (Location and Proxy) are grouped under the "Advanced" part of the settings.

Oh, I see what you are saying now...sorry!
Not sure then, that works for me. I have switched it on and off with no trouble, posts location when it's on and doesn't when it's off.

Edit: are you selecting the little map pin at the bottom of the typing/tweet area? I will assume yes but that's all I can think of...

No worries man, do you have the GNEX too? I'm not sure if there might be something wrong with my GPS It doesn't seem to be able to locate my position on Google Maps either when I turn off the Mobile network and Wifi detection to get a estimated location.

EDIT: Yes I am, it works on my Samsung Galaxy Tab which runs some other version of Twitter that is older (Couldn't be bothered to update it).

Ah its not broken, I've just downloaded the Speedometer app on Google Play Store and it was able to track a few sats. I guess its just a really poor lock

Unfortunately the Twitter app doesn't give a chance for my phone to get a GPS lock. 5-10 Sec's isn't enough to lock on :/

That sucks.
I have a Droid 3 and it usually locks fairly quickly.

Just a suggestion...have you ever thought of using a different Twitter app? I use TweetCaster with zero GPS issues. Might worth a try; plus, it has a lot more options.

I've used tweet deck and it works. Also, I'll be adding this exact functionality to my app, InfoFix within the next couple weeks. At the moment it uses your location to load nearby tweets to a map. If you tweet with location frequently you may find it useful: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.infofixlite
Good luck!

Yess I got it to work. I tried going out into open space, aka my garden. And it instantly got a fix, I never realised how restrictive buildings could be on GPS Works straight away, though I have seen many complaints about its GPS. Tweetdeck will be worth a try for me, but atm I'm only bothered with Twitter not Facebook. I just want a simple app.

Thanks for all the help
