Should I get Galaxy Nexus, Htc Rezound, or Razr Maxx?
I have a upgrade on verizon coming up on May 3rd. At first I was thinking that i wanted the Rezound. After I did more research I started to like the Galaxy Nexus a little more. What is your opinion? I'm torn on what one of these 3 great phones i should get
I don't envy you the choice.... all three are very capable smartphones. Hopefully some of our members will be able to share their experiences with the handsets and (perhaps) make your decision easier.
Nick, what are you currently using? Here's the main pros for each device:
Nexus - Stock ICS, beautiful display, unlocked bootloader
ReZound - Beats, unlocked bootloader (I think?), great camera
Maxx - Thin design, incredible battery
They're all great, I'd say just pick the pros that are most important for you.
None are bad choices. I have the Galaxy Nexus and my wife has the Rezound. The Razr Maxx wasn't out when either of us upgraded if I remember correctly.
The only thing the Razr Maxx has going for it is the AWESOME battery, which more than makes up for its flaws of having Motorola's flavor of Android on it and the locked bootloader.
The Rezound runs HTC Sense, which is the best manufacturer's flavor in my opinion. It's a solid phone that runs smooth and has a nice display and camera. Also comes with Beats headphones which is just a bonus IMO. The phone is worth it without the headphones.
The Nexus is my favorite because it runs plain Android, is easily rootable and has tons of dev support (tons of custom ROMs to choose from), and the display is absolutely gorgeous.
Battery is barely sufficient on the Nexus and Rezound.
If having a 30+ hour battery life isn't that important, then I would pick between the other two and make a decision on whether or not you're going to root and flash custom ROMs or not.
If you're not going to root and flash custom ROMs but use it for media (movies and audio), gaming, taking pictures, videos, etc and a 12 hour battery life for moderate use is ok with you, go with the Rezound.
If you are going to do all of the above and want to root and flash ROMs. Go with the Nexus.
If you want a business oriented phone with long battery life and not worried about sound, display, or camera function go with the Razr Maxx.

Not to be the bearer of bad news but it has to be said that Verizon gets the update before we do (yes, I have the Nexus as well). Because of the differences in the networks we don't run straight from Google.
It's still a spectacular phone but i don't think it would be fair if you didn't have all info that we know.

This is completely true. I can certainly be circumvented with installing custom ROMs if the OP is comfortable with it. However, the unlocked got the latest update only about a month before we did so it's not as bad as a lot of folks make it out to be.

I'll echo what others said. Don't count on it. However, if rooted, developers will get the updates from Google and get ROMs out much quicker than any other phone and miles ahead of any official updates.
True but it will at least get an update at some point in time. Sooner or later the rezound and Razr wont get any updates at all. Not saying that the Nexus is "future proof" but it wont become outdated as quick

i actually do not believe the nexus will get that many future updates.
we must weigh the pros and cons of this, and i do not know them all but others will chime in i'm sure.
PROs:
Unlocked Bootloader
Vanilla Android (2 verizon apps, it is still vanilla android)
Large Beautiful Screen
First device with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich(ICS for short)
Great Customability
A Plethora of custom ROMs
CONs:
Verizon Updates, they have to test to make sure it works on our network, which means it may stop after a while (No longer coming from google)
No interchangable sdcard, only comes in 32gb
Numerous bugs with Android 4.0 ICS
Horrid battery life (as is expected with any android device that runs a large screen)
pros outweigh the cons, however the cons can outweigh the pros with ease.
it is ultimately your choice, just know that some users who have the nexus are miserable with it, and experience tons of bugs, and some who have it are completely happy with the device and experience no issues.
no two devices are the same and should be taken as such. i hope this helps you, even though you may have already made your choice, but you do have the 15 day return window on your side.

First make sure they aren't trying to steer you towards an iPhone by saying that. My experience has been they try iPhone then Motorola, any Motorola, then HTC and then blackberry finally getting the Nexus. They have to know that a Nexus owner will most likely keep the phone for the duration rather than want to upgrade early.
And I'm not saying apple is bad but it wasn't what you were looking at.

They pushed everything except the iphone, even the Droid X2 on me. They just kept saying the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was not a good phone. Whats your opinion on the Nexus? I really want to move on to a different device.

I have the Nexus and love it. Does it have its quirks - sure, but what phone doesn't. I think we've covered all the things that are considered issues so its not as if we are telling you its perfect. The Rezound is also a good phone from what I hear. I can't speak for the Maxx because I haven't kept up with it at all.
It really comes down to what you feel most comfortable with. Did you get the chance to hold each of the phones? That can make a big difference to some people.

I believe the Nexus has the larger screen of the three you've looked at. Which one did you like the best?
(Phone shopping is almost as hard as car shopping!)

Well, my OG Droid was an incredible phone for the time. My Bionic was just fine. I was able too root and ROM and rid it of bloat no problem. Battery life and radio is still better than my Nexus. So, I wouldn't discount Moto that quickly.

I found the OG Droid to be poorly built. Constant issues as opposed to my Nexus. Battery swelling, quick loss of battery life, reception/dropped call issues (which I thought was the area at the time...now I realize the phone wasn't helping), horrible screen, horrible camera, etc. Seeing their new stuff doesn't help my opinions. Still horrid screens and cameras and add to that all the Moto bloat. I have a co-worker that sits 10 feet from me with a Droid X. I have to turn on my wireless tether for him every now and then so he can connect the net, his will tell him he has signal but it always times out.

Yeah, my boss was telling me his X is pretty much in the crapper battery wise at this point. I have some problems with my Droid, but it was generally a buggy ROM I would be running on it. The screen was still quite solid on it though.

I have had several moto phones and never had a major problem with any of them. The loked bootloader turns some people off but other than that they are great phones.

That and my previous experiences with other Moto phones that were in the pre-smartphone days.
I bought Samsung Galaxy Nexus a week ago and actually I have to options which is Samsung Galaxy SII Lte and Nexus. I chose Nexus because it is more convenient to use, I like it's slim type and wide screen of the phone. The Nexus gives users a completely made-over version of Google's operating system.I just have the problem with the battery life because the battery is easy to drain. Other than that I like the features.
