Sprint, ATT, or T-Mobile (carrier and phone choice)
Hi everyone. I was wondering if you guys could give me some input, and help me make a decision about what I'm going to do as far as carrier and phone choice.
Right now, I have a crappy qwerty slider dumb phone, and virgin mobile service. I've decided to spend a little more money per month, and make the jump to a smart phone.
I can't decide which route to take, though. Here's my thinking process so far:
1. Sprint, HTC Evo 4g LTE. This is what I'm leaning toward right now. I could get a plan with 450 minutes, unlimited messaging, unlimited data, for $70 a month. Sprint has great pricing options, however, I also don't want to regret buying the phone with them because of the 3g data network. I live in Youngstown, OH, and I don't think we'll see LTE for awhile.
2. T Mobile, Unlocked Galaxy Nexus. This would cost me a little bit more up front, but once I buy the nexus, I could just get one of T Mobile's prepaid plans, for $70 a month, I'd get unlimited calling, unlimited messaging, and 5gb of data. I would get HSPA+ in my area, which beats sprint's 3g network. The data speed would be improved, but I'd have capped data. Also, the Nexus sounds like a great phone, but I don't want to regret not getting the HTC OneX/Evo Lte/Galaxy S3.
3. ATT, HTC One X. This would be the priciest option for me. For ~500 mins, unlimited messaging, and 3gb of data, it's 90 bucks a month. I could get the One X, with LTE and HSPA+ data speeds, however the phone wouldn't have the added benefits that the Evo 4g LTE has. Also, ATT's LTE network is not in my city, so the LTE really isn't a bonus, but I feel like there's a higher chance for ATT to get LTE in my city sooner than sprint would.
4. Verizon (not in the topic heading). I hadn't really given them much thought yet, because they didn't have any of the phones I want, and they're expensive. But, they are the only carrier with LTE in my city, which is a bonus.
What do you guys think? I'm going to pull the trigger in the next 2 weeks sometime, May 18th when the Evo 4G LTE comes out at the latest, but I just want to make sure I think everything through and make the best decision. Thanks for any input!
It depends on your coverage too. Where do you live? I would go with the carrier who has the best coverage for your area. In southern California, other than Verizon, Sprint is pretty reliable then ATT and last it's Tmobile. Of course that's my opinion from my experience. I would base my choice in accordance to that logic because what's the use of having a great phone if you can't connect to the network.

There is no point in getting the phone you want if the network is lacking. My advice would be go with the carrier first, then phone. In the Miami area, Sprint is pretty lackluster in terms of data coverage and speed. Love my EVO but not the network it's running on. Then you have to ask other questions like how much data you think you would use, how often do you travel, etc.
Also for comparison regarding the post above, T-Mobile is probably the second best network in the Miami area (since AT&T doesn't have LTE here yet). It will differ from area to area.
