I've seen this device before and know that it shares some heritage with the One V which I own. I'm pretty sure it will root like the One V, but the question is how to get the rooting script on the device. Here's why: In order to root the One V, you must flash a custom Recovery (after unlocking the bootloader). Once that's done, you flash the SuperSU app with the SU binaries from the custom Recovery to root the phone. So all you need is a working custom Recovery! Simple, right?
Here's the problem: To date, nobody has done a custom ClockworkMod Recovery for the T328W.
You could try the rooting guide for the One V and flashing it's Recovery. I doubt that flashing it will brick your phone. The worst case is probably (I can't promise) that the Recovery won't work.
In case the Recovery doesn't work, you'll need to have a copy of the stock Recovery on hand so you can flash back to it. The stock Recovery can be found in the RUU. I did a quick Google search and this is what I came up with:
[RUU][NEW] HTC Desire V T328w (HTC Wind) (NOT FOR BRAVO) - xda-developers
You'll want to grab the ROM.zip link in that post. When you open it (with 7zip), the stock recovery will be either recovery.img
If you're willing to take the risk, do this:
1) Boot into HBOOT and confirm that the device is a PRIMO_DS
. That's the device that the RUU above is for.
2) Download ROM.zip from the XDA thread above and make sure you have the recovery.img or recovery_signed.img file in hand
. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP because it's your only way back to a functional Recovery if the next step doesn't work.
3) Then go to the One V rooting thread
and proceed from step 4 to flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
If the One V Recovery doesn't work, grab the stock recovery above and flash as follows (depending upon the img name):
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
If the One V Recovery works, go on to step 5 in the guide. It should root just fine.
It's a risk, and as you know, I can't accept responsibility for what you do with your device. But I do hope this helps you get the job done successfully and as safely as possible.
