Default Android Exchange Support Help

Hello All,

I've done a bit of searching to find out whether or not any current Android phone from any US carrier (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, or T-Mobile) can natively pull in mail, contacts, and calendar events from an exchange server. my head is spinning, doesn't seem like anyone has a clear cut answer...some things work some don't.
It seems the consensus is:

email - yes but no subfolders
contacts - yes?
calendar - sometimes
Is this list accurate or am i way off base?

My issue is that I need to find out if we can allow users at the office buy Android phones, the stipulation is that mail, contacts, and calendar events must sync with Exchange 2007.....needs to be done natively. Can any US Andoid-based phone do this?
If Yes, what US phone or Android version will do these things?

There was this post but no one replied:
Android 2.x - Realistic Exchange Support?

I am using the trial version (30 days) of Touchdown at the moment. I have it set for Active sync with our corporate exchange server and have had no problems with calender, e-mail or contacts not syncing. As soon as I make a new entry I see the syncing message at the bottom of the screen and it is done.

The only negative I've encountered so far is that I can't see my sub folders in my inbox in order to read older e-mails on the exchange. If I want to forward an e-mail from the phone to the sub folders the folders appear, I highlight the folder I want and it moves the e-mail there with no problem. It would be nice if I could get into my sub folder but so far it is a no go. I sent an e-mail to the app company to see if this is possible. Hope this helps.

soooo for example Sprint's Samsung Moment is on Android 1.5 and that doesn't have exchange support natively but Sprint has included Moxier Mail which adds support?! geez, I'm confused. soooooo, it depends on the carriers version of Android regardless of the Android base version?

Thanks Cuda...my reply above was to my original one not yours.

so i guess my other question would be taken from my reply above....can any Android base version do these exchange functions with the proper 3rd party apps or do you need, let's just say, Android 2.x or higher?

NitroDesk Inc. - Convergence Redefined

You might find better information at the developers site. They also have a Google groups set up. Touchdown has an app for older Android versions as well as 2.0.

You emphasized "needs to be done natively" but Touchdown's an acceptable solution?

In any case, I'd also recommend Touchdown. There's an HTC Exchange client that comes fairly well recommended as well.

well you're right, i'd like it to be done natively but if not, knowing a solution is helpful. we are not supporting these phones as far a 'tech support' goes and normal users will not seek out or know to download an app to make all this work...they just won't. but if users are interested i figure i could just give them a little footnote that this solution is available.
