Default Why won't my phone download pictures?

I have a LG optimus net phone and i use strictly wifi as i am on a pay as you go plan,I cannot download any pictures at all.I do receive gmail and i can use google without any problems,do i need to download something or an app or is there something i am not doing right.
Also is there a way to extend my battery life,in settings as there is for an IPHONE?
Thanks

Pictures from where? If its from an MMS message, you can only download those via mobile network. They don't work over WiFi.

If you mean the Facebook and Twitter apps, no they don't have download functions. You can share the pics to Dropbox though and download from there. Her email, you mean attached pictures?
