Water damage HTC Desire HD

I've had my HTC Desire HD since December 2010, its running Android gingerbread
Yesterday at university I dropped it in a puddle, and picked it up immediately and wiped off the exterior with my jacket. This must of been around 11 AM. The phone worked fine the entire day, only around 6pm after I had finished playing on an emulator, and had to restart the phone to clear some on the RAM, but it went to straight to what I can only believe is a boot screen. It has three little androids on skateboards. neither of my volume buttons do anything, and when I click Fast boot, some green text pops up, and I've managed to catch the last bit of it which says something along the lines of image missing. I did take it apart and leave it in rice over night
Can anyone help me on getting it working as I only get a new phone in december.

I see the thread title is "water damage". I know this isn't a support forum, but if you have got the phone wet recently the recommendation is to turn it off, remove the battery and stick the phone in a bag of uncooked rice for a day or two to draw the moisture out.

Thanks! My major concern though is that the phone was on and working for about 8 hours before the issue arose. I have sitting in some rice now though
