Default New Notification Icon

Hello. Thanks in advance for your help. This morning, I saw a new icon in my notification bar, and I wasn't sure what it was. It is disappearing and reappearing. The one I am having questions about is the house with two curved lines coming out of the top. I would post a screen capture, but I don't have enough posts yet. Thanks!

If you're getting notifications? Pop ups? More likely, it's another app you installed promoting specific games with something like airpush. If rooted, droidwall or adfree will likely solve the issue. If not? I've read good things about Airpush Detector and Addons Detector for finding offending apps. They won't block or remove the application that is causing the notification, but will tell you which one it is.

I hope this works for you.

I don't believe it is coming from an app, as it is on the right hand side, where the system notifications come from (like network status, GPS, etc). I've attached an image this time.

I've never seen that icon before, you should try turning off gps, location etc off one by one to see which service is triggering it. My guess it has to deal with location on.

Question. Have you looked in the manual that came with your device to see what the icon is? Of goggled the manual for your device?

Surprisingly, yes, I did, but I wasn't able to find it in there.

Contact your service provider on this matter. I'm quite sure a tech support rep might can shed some light on what that icon/symbol is - and if it's something you should be concerned about.

I've never seen it either. My best guess would be a hotspot (tethering) app icon.

What phone do you have?
Who's your carrier?
Are you running a custom ROM on the phone?
