Default Just got a Devour - pulling my hair out

Scanned through the FAQ's and didn't see anything that would help me out here. The wife and I just upgraded our old phones to the Motorola Devour. The Motorola "sync" software is driving me nuts, it reminds me of using my freaking Zune programs. Here is the problem(s):

I've been trying to copy some pictures over to the Devour so that I can change my wallpaper, but even though the sync seems to work through MLL, I can't find them on the device. They don't show up under the wallpaper and they don't show up under the picture viewer. Is there no easy way to simply drag and drop files over to this thing like I did with my old smart phone? After syncing, where in the world do the pics show up at on the device? There is no file manager on the device (or if there is, I can't find it) and the search function just seems to search the 'net for stuff. I've been messing with this freaking thing for the last few hours and I'm about ready to throw it out the window....... I'm having the same problem with music, it seems to move it to the device, but I can't find it anyplace. The quick tip book that came with it says that it should show up as a mass storage device or drive on my computer for "easy drag and drop". But when it's hooked up, it only gives me a DCIM folder (for pics from the camera function I assume) and a folder for video. There are no folders for programs, pictures, or other things that I'm used to seeing on smart phone devices.

Help please!

Kind of a dumb question, but did you mount the device first? (pull down top menu and press "Mount USB" when USB is connected)

Mine doesn't have anything that says "Mount USB" in the pull down top menu.
There is Motorola PC Tools, Windows Media Sync, Manage Memory Card, and Modem Mode. I've had it set on the Manage Memory Card setting and nothing happens. I tried switching it to Windows Media Sync and it fails to set up on my computer during the install.

I actually just tried hooking it up to my netbook that is running Windows 7 to see if it made any difference (my desktop is running XP). The netbook recognized the device and installed everything fine. But again, when I drag/drop stuff from my computer into the device, they don't show up. I even tried creating new folders on the device (through Windows 7), but I have no idea how to access them on the device. The only things I can access are through the main menu on the device and that is only the "image viewer" button and none of the pics are there. Don't these Droid phones have a simple "explorer" function where I can get into a root directory to select folders and files???? I had an el cheapo smart phone before this and it was so easy to do this stuff it was ridiculous. This thing seems to be locked into its preset buttons and I can't change them.....

Download an app called Astro from market. It's a file browser, works quite well.
