Hey there shadesyoung, let me first off welcome you to the forum!

Now i really am not positive but i think it depends on the carrier you are with, if you could give us that then you could help us out?

Also did you buy it Unlocked from google, or is this not the Galaxy Nexus?

More information in general would be great shadesyoung

Thanks again for joining

it should work... if they use the same radio tech and frequencies.
you will need to check the carrier in UK and carrier in US...
GSM radios is your better bet.

there are different frequencies for both GSM and LTE.
and phones do not come with ALL frequencies or radios.

You should be fine with GSM and UMTS (3G).

4G won't work - O2 (and hence GiffGaff) don't have any 4G coverage. But in any event the only 4G there will be (at end of month) uses a different frequency band from the US, so it doesn't really matter what network you are on in that respect.

One thing to watch: you did buy your Nexus direct from Google, ie it's not locked to a particular network's SIM cards?

^You can't get a locked Galaxy Nexus in the US, unless it's a Sprint or Verizon one, and in that case, no amount of unlocking will make it work in the UK. OP, you need model number I9250 , unlocked, from the Google play store, it will work in UK.
