Angry "want to download a free app? No thanks" spam

Hi,

I get this full page advert popping up on my screen randomly (it seems) several times a day. I'm finding it extremely annoying. Does anyone know how to get rid of it or where it comes from? The phone is a HTC Sensation XE (not rooted). I have installed a few "no ads" apps but they haven't helped at all.

I would attach a screenshot of the offender but am not yet allowed it seems.

Thanks guys,

Jim

First off welcome to the forums

Next, i would suggest it is an app you downloaded...I would try to remember when it started and what app you downloaded and start removing apps and seeing what happens.

Its an airpush ad I'd think. Download Add-ons detector and use it to find the culprit.

Thanks for advice. I tried add-ons detector which suggested "London Tube Maps" as the culprit. I've removed it and will let you know if I get the ads again!

That does sound annoying... I can't stand ads being shoved down my throat, even on websites when something pops up and takes up most of my smartphone screen real estate. They're a pain to get em out of the way with that tiny little "x".

Hi, The weekend has come and gone without the pop up so I guess it's in the clear now! It would seem that add-ons detector fixed it for me.

Thanks everyone,

J
