Default What will rooting get me?

I'm trying to decide whether to root my Blaze or not. What exactly will rooting the phone get me? I am currently running Android 4.0.4 ICS. What I would really like out of this would be the ability to remove all of the bloatware on the phone. Gamebase and Tele Nav, really? I can do without.

I'm not looking to do any development or in depth hacking, just clean up my phone, preferably with a plain vanilla version of Android, the latest version possible. Is this what I'll be getting if I do root? Are there any disadvantages to rooting? Will my phone actually lose any functionality? Will it gain any?

This is my fourth Android phone (G1, LG Optimus, Samsung S 3G, and now the Blaze) and it is by far my favorite. I have never done any rooting on any of the previous phones so I really have no idea what to expect. Thanks for any advice.

I would rather be sailing...

Rooting your phone will gain you administrative privileges over your device, thus, giving you full control over it. Once you're rooted you can remove all the bloatware on your device, but you have to be careful what you delete on your device once rooted.
You'll void your warranty on your device once you root it and there is the risk of bricking it if you don't follow the rooting instructions carefully. You also gain the ability to flash custom ROMs to your device, but I know you're doing this for bloatware removal. Your device shouldn't lose any functionality unless you were to flash a ROM that would cause that problem or if you do something wrong or delete any important system apps.

If you use any banking apps, make sure you can still use them on a rooted device.

Unfortunately my bank's app wont work on rooted devices. This is the only reason why I haven't rooted my main phone.
