Default Exchange Get-ActiveSyncDevice shows duplicate device

In Exchange Shell (Exchange 2010) I run the following PS command:
get-activesyncdevice | ft
This will give me a list of mobile devices that connects to my Exchange environment via ActiveSync.
Today, a user connected their Android SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 device and I approved the quarantined device.
Running the powershell command above shows this device listed twice. Once with DeviceID = SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 and again with DeviceID = Validate

Why is this device listed twice with two device IDs? And what does "Validate" mean in this context?
