Default Backup and restore (non rooted phone)

Hi all,

I have a quick question. I am looking to upgrade from an SGS2 to an SGS3 - both standard and not rooted. I figured I should back up my apps before doing anything else so that I can restore my apps and settings on the new phone. I used App Backup and Restore which ran through and backed up my files to /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/app_backup_restore. I figured I could then browse to that folder and copy the backup file (whatever it was) onto my PC which I could then copy to my new phone, reinstall App Backup and restore and I'd be all sorted. Trouble is, I can't get at that folder at all from my PC having connected the phone via USB and if I use the My Files app on the phone, I can see the folder but it has content.

Am I using the wrong app or just doing something completely daft? All help greatly appreciated.

Greetings G8pcw,

Welcome to the forums.

Do you have the Samsung USB driver files installed on your PC?

You might want to try another file manager like Astro, file expert or one of the many others.

If all else fails, you could try getting an card reader and attaching the external SD to your computer that way.

Hope this helps.
