it was so easy to pick a new phone. Now I feel that any phone I get will be a step down from the one I have already.
My carrier has pretty much offered me anything they have on a really reasonable contract with nothing to pay towards the phone. I can have a One X+, GNote2, GS3 and even an iPhone5 and I don't want any of them... My head has been turned by that bloody Droid DNA that possibly isn't even going to come out in my country, certainly not any time soon.
Is there anything new and decent coming out soon that is worth hanging on for? My One X is all fixed and working perfectly, getting JB in the next few days and anything out now seems like a step down or in the case of the One X+ a pointless little step up.
There's nothing really, I wouldn't expect much to be released/announced until MWC next year.
This.
I think all the flagships have been released for the year, especially with the holidays coming up you're not going to see anything else for a couple months.

I think it's a fair assumption that the DNA, or an improved version, will come to the UK eventually. Looks like 5" 1080p is going to be the theme of 2013 TBH. But having just released the One X+ here I could imagine HTC waiting a little before trumping it (I'm guessing that Verizon didn't get a One X+?).
My feeling is to hang on - there's no point grabbing something you won't be happy with if you are going to be stuck with it for 2 years once you do so.
I knew it would be a couple of months, I can definitely hang on until feb/march, just hope something big comes out.
The One X+ is a class phone, probably the best pound for pound Android phone you can get at the moment but it's such a small step up from what I've got it doesn't seem worth signing up for another 18month contract. I know eventually HTC will do a 5" 1080p phone, hoping it has slightly better specs than the DNA by the time it reaches our shores.

Probably, but then something faster, cheaper and better will arrive a week later. This is the way it works and I can feel your pain, it is just the way it is.
In some ways, it is good and in other ways, frustrating as hell. And it never ends.
You might consider a phone like the S3 through Cricket. Sure, it will cost you more than the same device through VZ or ATT, but you are paying AT$T/VZ for the device anyway. Over time via a contract that will cost you hundreds to escape if you want to leave before it ends.
Not a good idea if you run the numbers and you are concerned with the 'latest and the greatest' phones which will be amazing by the time your contract ends. I remember when the iPhone was available through just one carrier and if you wanted one, you either waited out your contract or paid to escape.
Cricket charges $479.00 for their S3 and VZ charges you $249.00, but with Cricket, there is no contract and your cost will never exceed $50.00 with their basic plan. But $230.00 more upfront might be more than you want to spend. With services like Cricket, you do not pay to escape; you simply stop paying the bill and that is the end of it. You can also pay for a less costly S2 from Boost and Cricket as well as Virgin Mobile (I think)
The S3 is state of the art (so far) and it is a great device with a nice large screen. I decided on the S3 vis Cricket for the large screen, more performance than I likely need and I know to the cent how much my bill is at month's end.
I just noticed that the Galaxy Note is now available on a month to month contract through VZ. Not sure how that works, but if you want a huge screen and great specs, your Note is waiting.
So how much do you want to spend? How do you use your phone? I use Cricket and I never exceed 1 gig a month. You might want more and if you do, Cricket has two other plans worth a look.
Note: I am not a paid spokesman for Cricket, just a long time fan. Except when I bought my VM Triumph.
Thanks Bob but as the pres said, I'm in the UK and my missus has the S3 and I just don't like it and that's what put me off the Note 2. I've got a perfectly good phone for the time being, just going to have to wait until the next wave come out and see what looks decent.
