Question ICS address book consolidation? how can I fix it?

I need to reign in my contacts, I hate the way that android has multiple copies of everyone.
is there a way to merge the same contacts together?

thank you!

I did it by syncing the contacts with my Google account.
Then I logged into the account and went to contacts where there's a "Find duplicates and merge" type option (Can't remember the exact words).
Then I synced them again to get the result back into the phone.

There's some kind of bug, I had to tun the "Find duplicates and merge" action several times until it said "Yah!" (I'm not joking!) to catch all duplicates.

You should just be able to go into the Contact settings and choose what accounts to show in your contacts list. There might be duplicates and such, but you can easily go into the contact and merge them together.
