Installing Android 4.2 on a Versus Touchpad

My lovely girlfriend bought me a Versus Touchpad for Xmas. After a few days of updating and installing apps I found a lot of the apps weren't working - including when I updated apps that were previously working and came preinstalled on the tablet like BBC Iplayer.

I'd thought of taking it back and upgrading to a Nexus 7, but this will make me public enemy #1 in my house. My significant other seems to think that upgrading to the latest Android build will fix the problems I'm having.

Can anyone tell me is this possible and point me in the right direction?

You'll only be able to upgrade if the manufacturer builds and releases an upgrade for it.

As others have pointed out, there are very few devices have 4.2 available currently. TBH I really doubt that's the solution. Can you uninstall the app updates you made (I'd try with just one)? And what is it currently running?

It runs 4.0 at the moment. Is it possible to install 4.1?
