Eh, I have no interest in the phone, the size is ridiculous. I have owned two Huawei phones in the past, so I kinda pay attention to what they're doing. What is interesting to me is how Huawei is making their own processors now. I'm curious to see how they stack up against the competition and if they make it into other companies phones in the future. People like to make fun of Huawei, but they make solid products when they want to, at better prices than anybody out there.
I'd like something a little bigger than my GNex but the Note 2 is as big as I'd go.
Love the screen real estate but need it to fit in my pocket.
Also find their custom UI not terribly attractive.

I remember back then when I had my Palm Pre, I thought the screen size was just a little bit too small when compared to the iPhone 3.
I would thought anything over a 3.5" screen was something I would have to really checked out before buying. Then HTC came out with the EVO 4G (screen size of 4.3") and I thought this was just too big for me. A year after, I was loving everything and everything about this phone.
A few years later... Screen sizes of 4.3" and up didn't seemed to be anything weird anymore. For instance, the Note 2 - this bad boy packing a screen size of 5.5", would you say this is just way too big? Well, many people would think so -- others might just think its a perfect size... A mini-tablet and phone pack in one unit. Totally cool.
Now - this tablet phone has been introduced to the public - the question is, are they (manufacturer) just taking this tablet/phone just a little bit too far??
Let me answer that question -- Heck Yeah! But I'm sure they'll always be someone who can't wait to get one.
Edit: I think they are trying to take us back to when Cellular phone was called, "Cellular Phone." Oh, nooooo!!!
Rush, there's always someone out there to delve into a new idea/technology.
Not that I have a bunch of time to wear "regular" clothes (basically two days a week), but most of mine have really small pockets. Yep, I'm a skinny pants type of guy.
Often, I have my wife carry my MASSIVE Gnex in her purse.
I can't imagine using anything that large. I have such small hands that my Gnex seems large. Just looking at/playing with display note 2s is somewhat intimidating

As an American and a student of American cravings, I have little doubt that the trend will keep on going to the point where people consider it to be "the in thing" to carry phones that are the size of boom boxes.
I say it in jest now, but mark my words--they'll keep on getting bigger and bigger to the point of absurdity. Already we have people holding up large tablets to take photographs, and often blocking the subject from the real photographers in the process. We will one day have phones as big as televisions and tablets smaller than wristwatches.
I can see it now: hoards of phablet users with their 720p screens plastered to their faces "so they can get a full immersion experience", blindly running into people, knocking over kiosks... Like a comedy sketch, but with real injuries.
I have a Galaxy Note 2 (5.5" screen), and it's a great phone, but to be honest, I wish it was just a tad smaller. If it was 5" instead of 5.5", I think it would be perfect.

I'm going to learn agoraphobia.
I'm comparing to other smartphones. Droid DNA, Xperia Z all have 1080p on their 5 inch screen.
I have some games I LOVE that I can't play on my Rezound because the screen is too small. Honestly this phone (and the Note II and Intuition) intrigue me... I honestly think I'd like to give that phone a try simply because I've been thinking about getting a smaller tablet (my current 10" is slightly too large to be really portable).
I hate things that attempt to take the middle ground and end up not really being one thing or the other. Phones don't need big screens, Xperia U is plenty big enough for a phone. Tabs start at 7" hp to well... How big do you want. Personally I'd really like a 12"-15" tablet for movies. Plus, with a decent quad-core and 4Gb RAM I could use it for dev work. Just add a keyboard & Stand and.... It's a laptop.

im just gonna get a laptop and put voice and data on it it might be smaller! how big is too big anyways are they looking to add optical drive too phones now? lol nice looking phone tho
Can't say I understand the appeal of a 6.1 inch screen, but I said the same thing about the Note II and it's selling like hot cakes
6.1 is getting awfully close to 7 which is tablet territory. I can't imagine stuffing my nexus 7 in my pocket, lol. It is what it is, and as long as people want it, they'll make it.

There are a lot of folks who won't agree with you. Really though, no reason not to have both. The market's big enough. However, there are already plenty of nice big phones. I'd like to see more capable small phones.
I think my hands can't handle a 6.1 inch screen, my fingers are too small. lol! I'll prefer a smaller one. But, everyone has different opinions. A 6.1" is already an all in one device that you can use for calls, texts, watch movies, read ebooks, FACEBOOK (of course. hihi) etc. Anyways, large screen phones are really in trend nowadays

Maybe they can market this towards the older crowd. I mean, with a 6.1" screen those numbers on the dialer must be HUGE. All the more easier for Grammy to see.
I've often joked about wanting a phone with a 7" screen. I wonder if anyone else would be crazy enough to make one as big as 6.1" or more..

Wouldn't it easier for everyone if carriers just allowed voice enabled tablets? Jeez...
Some carriers don't care (mostly in places where prepaid is the norm). I remember buying a 3G USB adapter when I went on vacation to the Philippines and the software included with the adapter allowed me to send text messages and make calls through the computer.

This is pretty standard in most of the world. The US phone networks just operate on a backwards system where they want to totally control and brand every device they sell. It's bizarre, it's like Wal-Mart in the US selling food from Nestle but rebranding it as "Wal-Mart Chocolate Pro Mini Xtra by Nestle" and telling people they can only eat it during the morning.

Don't forget that you must eat Nestle for the next two years or get slapped with a massive fee when you back out.
