There should be an option to import SIM contacts. Check the phone manual for details.

Open contacts app, press menu button, then import, then select import from Sim.

Default Fast and Easy Cleanup

You could have also gone into your Contacts, tapped your Menu key, More, SIM management, Copy contacts from SIM. And be good to go as well.

You have two copies of your contacts now, one on your phone (which you just made) and one on your SIM card (which you just copied from). That’s why you have duplicates. Do this…

Go into your Contacts, Menu key, Display Options and it will show accounts which your phone is trying to sync contacts from. Keep the phone option selected but un-select your SIM card. This should clean those doubles right up.

Enjoy.

And don’t forget to check out some of the other ways to save contacts on your Samsung phone.
