Android 2.0 / 2.1 on Orange HTC Hero ?

Does anyone know when Orange HTC Hero users in the UK are getting the Android update from 1.5 ? Is it to 2.0 or 2.1 ?

I'd like to know if and when this will be available for my phone. Here's my phone details:

Firmware version: 1.5
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29
Kernel version: 2.6.27-430d1aea htc-kernel@and18-2 #959
Build no: 2.73.61.66 CL#82177 release-keys
Software version: 1.0.0.A6288

There seems to be a few posts out there about this but they always get polluted by people changing the subject. Can anyone shed light on this ?

Seems you were right TheBrit. Just phoned HTC Support. They said there's no official confirmation of the release details, but unofficially, here's what they said to expect:

* v2.1 to be released. Release scheduled for June. Wouldn't be more specific about date.
* Improved bluetooth implementation, inc file transfer.
* Release likely to comprise of preparatory updates, followed by main ROM update.

The last we communication we had from orange was that they are waiting for HTC and also orange may not ever release it because of branding problems

I still dont feel like updating ;/ I am not sure what performance upgrade we have on 2.1 esp with Sense around. I would love to flash it to Froyo from Villain. But its still a lil buggy i guess ;/
